This is Diana 2. The four ‘Dianas’ were the first positions established on the Jebel above the Salalah Plain after SAF broke out from the ‘Hedgehogs’ defensive line on the plain surrounding Salalah. In late 1974 they operated as bases for patrols into the wadis to ambush ‘adoo’ movements. These positions in late ’74 were not considered a ‘high contact’ attack risk from enemy but occasionally received ‘incomers’ or long range machine gun fire. However, they played an important part in the defence and security of Salalah.
